Sustainability

The science tells us that tackling climate change is an urgent global priority. We believe the private sector, in partnership with policy leaders, must take bold steps and that we can do so in a way that leads to growth and opportunity. And we have a responsibility to do so — to our users and the environment.

Renewable energy:

We create internet based products with code that runs on computer servers. Our machine learning algorithms help us protect our customers, computer systems and build better, more relevant products. This all comes at a cost and the energy used in this process is our most significant environmental footprint.
To tackle this issue we decided to host almost no hardware ourselves, instead taking great care to choose hosting companies with the best environmental records. We are proud to say that our machines are hosted in data centres with 50 percent more energy efficiency than the industry average, and 100% of the energy we use is repurchased from sustainable sources (6% solar, 94% wind if you are interested).

Distributed workforce:

Technology advances and social change have led to a revolutionary transformation in how, where, and by whom work is performed. Previously separate systems of buildings, team dynamics, technologies, organizational work models, and environmental systems are becoming increasingly interdependent and interrelated.
Underutilized workplace facilities are monuments to inefficiency. In the EU buildings account for 40% of total energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions. We minimise our footprint by operating a distributed workforce. Our people are spread all over the world, often working from home or from shared premises.

Recent events have shown the power of a distributed workforce, driving forward towards a shared goal from different locations - we've been preaching that approach ever since Intergiro was conceived in 2017.

Reduced raw material usage:

It may sound simple but approximately 95% of all financial products in the world involve paper at some point in the value chain. This is completely needless. What's more, its more error prone, slower and wastes space.
We strive to create digital processes that eradicate paper wherever we possibly can. We do this utilising online application forms and surveys, and use digital signatures wherever the law or our partners will allow.
